To calculate Length to Width ratio of fancy cut diamonds, you simply divide length by width.

For example, if a marquise measures 10.0 mm by 5.0 mm, you would divide 10 by 5 and get a 2:1 ratio.

10/5 = 2:1 ratio

** Please note: Preferred proportions refer to the length to width ratios that are most popular with consumers. Market demand, however, changes often, but beauty will always be in the eye of the beholder.
